Fatores Determinantes na Escolha de Internacionalização das Empresas Multilatinas

Objetivo: Analisar quais são os critérios determinantes para as multilatinas saírem do seu país de origem e se instalarem em outro país específico.
Método: Foi aplicado a técnica de probit aplicado a dados em painel, pois é um método que permite representar a variável dependente por uma dummy com regressores variando entre os indivíduos e o período.
Principais Resultados: Os resultados encontrados demonstram que as variáveis macroeconômicas dos países de origem das multilatinas não foram significantes para a determinação da localização, mas o PIB mundial, as características da firma, assim como as fusões e aquisições, foram determinantes e estatisticamente significativas para a localização das multilatinas. Isso demonstra que a internacionalização está altamente relacionada com o tamanho da firma, assim como sua experiência. Ou seja, quanto maior a firma mais recurso a mesma terá para investimento em novos países.
Relevância/ Originalidade: O estudo sobre as empresas multilatinas começou a ganhar relevância acadêmica nos últimos anos (AGUILERA et al., 2017). Esse fato se justifica, pois, são poucas as empresas da América Latina que estão entre as maiores ou mais valiosas empresas do mundo.
Contribuições Teóricas/ Metodológicas: Este estudo visa expandir a literatura sobre as empresas multilatinas ao trazer evidências sobre quais os fatores contribuem para processo de internacionalização dessas empresas.
