This paper examins the internationalization procedures of the brazilian company Marcopolo, during the years 2004 and 2005. The goal is not to discuss situational issues (exchange pressure, in general) but in fact to analize organizational decisions based on them. Companies’ internationalization measures obbey two theoretical scenarios: A organizational scenario and an economical one. Studies with up to 76 brazillian companies which operate within international markets have shown the Uppsala School gradualist interpretation, however, superior results are met in a worlwide system and with less dependancy on domestic markets. Marcopolo accepted the “eclectic paradigm of international production” when searching for more appropriate profit margins. The internationalization of Marcopolo was a process related to adverse local production conditions rather than a behavioural action process.Downloads
